Terms and disclaimers
Vote-Casting Couch is an independent, nonpartisan hobby project for watching election results. It is not an official source, it is not news reporting, and it doesn't tell anyone how to vote.
Unofficial results
Every number here is unofficial. Returns come from third-party feeds and public election-office pages, can be late, incomplete or wrong, and change as counting continues. Only state and local election officials certify results. For anything that matters, such as where and how to vote, deadlines, or official totals, go to your state or county election office or usa.gov/election-office.
Nothing on this site is legal, financial, betting or voting advice.
"Projected" is not "called"
Vote-Casting Couch does not call races. A winner marked projected reflects a projection published by the data provider (civicAPI) and is credited to it. News organizations and election officials may reach different conclusions on a different schedule, and projections can be withdrawn. The "Couch Call" confetti and Couch Room votes are for fun and are not race calls.
Our own estimates
Some features are the couch's own arithmetic on the reported count: the Couch estimate gauges, "On the bubble" and close-race meters, trend lines, swing arrows and the outlook pages. They are simple, transparent calculations, not forecasts from a polling model, and they are labeled as estimates wherever they appear. They can be wrong.
Live streams and links
Broadcast players are standard YouTube embeds of streams that the broadcasters themselves publish. Vote-Casting Couch does not host, record, re-stream or alter any broadcast, and it is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by any broadcaster, network, data provider or election office named on the site. Their names, logos and content belong to their owners and are used only to identify what you're watching. Links to other sites are provided for convenience; we don't control them and aren't responsible for their content or policies.

Nonpartisan
The site is not affiliated with any candidate, campaign, party or political committee and does not endorse any of them. Colors follow the common convention (blue for Democrats, red for Republicans) and imply nothing else. Celebration effects fire for projected winners of every party alike.
If the site ever carries a sponsor, the sponsor will be clearly labeled and will have no say over results, projections, coverage or design. Sponsorship is not an endorsement in either direction, and no political campaigns, parties, PACs or issue groups will be accepted as sponsors.
Terms of use
By using votecastingcouch.com or the Vote-Casting Couch TV apps, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use them.
- Personal, non-commercial use. You're welcome to watch, share links and post screenshots with credit. Please don't scrape the site at high volume, frame it as your own, resell it, or use it in a way that misrepresents results.
- No misuse. Don't try to break, overload or interfere with the site, the Couch Room relay, or the services it relies on, and don't use Couch Room to post anything unlawful or abusive.
- Changes. Features, data sources and these terms can change or end at any time without notice. The "Updated" date at the top shows the latest version.
No warranty. The site and apps are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness, timeliness, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
Limitation of liability. To the fullest extent the law allows, the operator of Vote-Casting Couch will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from your use of, or reliance on, the site, the apps or any data shown, even if advised of the possibility. Where liability can't be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid to use the site, which is zero.
If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies.
Governing law. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute about the site or apps belongs in the state or federal courts located in San Diego County, California.
Copyright, name and logo

"Vote-Casting Couch," "Couch Call," "Couch Room," the couch-and-ballot logo and the related slogans are trademarks of Vote-Casting Couch. You may use the name to refer to the site, for example in an article or a post. Please don't use the name or logo for another product, a fork, merchandise, or anything that suggests endorsement or affiliation without permission.
The source code is public on GitHub so people can see how it works. Public isn't the same as open source: unless a file says otherwise, the code is not licensed for reuse. See the LICENSE file.
